The Best Vegan Snacks

Vegan diet

Are you looking for ideas for delicious snacks? Try vegan snacks! They are both good for you, your body and the sustainability on the planet. In this blogpost, we will give you some great ideas for the best vegan snacks that can easily be made.

Hummus

Hummus is one of my absolute favorite go-to snacks. Carrots, celery, and hummus are healthy and delicious; you could also use other vegetables like cucumber and radishes. It’s a vegan dip and Middle Eastern dish made from chickpeas, oil, garlic, and tahini. Hummus actually means “chickpea” in Arabic.

It’s high in nutrients with 6 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein per 100 grams. It’s also filled with healthy fats, B vitamins, and vitamin c.

As with most of the snacks on the list, the homemade version is usually a bit more healthy as you know what is going into it!

Fruit and Vegetable Protein Smoothies

I’m a huge fan of smoothies – especially during the summer, after a workout, or for lunch! I feel great after having one because it’s pure nutrition.

The beautiful thing with smoothies is there is no one size fits all to them. Put whatever you want in it! I usually throw a scoop of protein powder in it with a banana, kale, spinach, chia seeds, ice, and water.

If I want it to be extra tasty, then i’ll mix it with vegan yogurt and almond milk in lieu of water.

Guacamole and crackers

Guacamole is a Mexican plant-based dip made from avocados, onion, garlic, and lime juice. It’s extremely healthy and packed with monounsaturated fats (the good ones), fiber, and potassium. Whole grain crackers keep it healthy as well.

Other alternatives are to put it on rice cakes, or on rye bread to make a healthy Danish smørrebrød (an open faced sandwich).

Fruit

Who can argue with a bowl of fruit? Whether it be watermelon, strawberries, banana, or something else, fruit is a nutritious sweet packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Apples and berries are some of the best fruits for weight loss as they’re low in calories.

Edamame with Sea Salt

One of my favorite healthy snacks (otherwise known as soybeans), edamame are a great source of plant-based protein with one cup having around 17 grams of protein for less than 200 calories.

Sprinkle a little salt on them after microwaving them for a few minutes and you’ll be in heaven!

Trail Mix

Trail mix is a vegan snack which you can make either really healthy or slightly unhealthy as a nice treat! It’s usually filled with nuts, seeds, and dried fruit, but some people opt to put chocolate, coconut, and whole grains in it.

As a child, my mother would put chunks of chocolate in it which made it an extremely tasty snack! The sweet and salty mix was perfection, although I can’t say how healthy it was…

Dark Chocolate

While we’re on the subject of chocolate, dark chocolate is a great snack (in moderation). You can read more about the benefits of chocolate here.

Although it isn’t great for losing weight and watching calories, it does provide great benefits to the mind and body.

Spiced Nuts

I love spiced nuts for social settings and find it’s the perfect vegan snack for when company’s over and having drinks. Almonds can provide 6 grams of protein for one ounce of them. They’re also filled with fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

You can make them homemade or buy them at the grocery store, just make sure to read the nutrition label!
