At our Board and Care, we are equipped to care for residents who are experiencing, or in recovery from, a serious or life-limiting illness (palliative care) as well as those who are in the final stages of life (hospice).
We are dedicated to providing specialized care specifically tailored to each resident’s unique needs throughout the aging experience, putting their wellbeing and dignity at the forefront of everything we do.
In addition to resident care, a large component of the services we provide are to the families, who greatly appreciate receiving updates and emotional support from care experts during these difficult times.
Palliative Care Goals: Reducing Stress and Providing Emotional Support
Palliative care can be but is not always part of the hospice process. During palliative care, we provide relief from symptoms, pain, and stress associated with a serious illness or injury. Our aim is to improve the quality of life and provide emotional and spiritual support to our residents and their families.
Our intimate home, which houses six residents or less, is in a suburban neighborhood of Vista, California. We have a tight knit group of caregivers who get to know our residents very well and provide consistent and effective care. The result is great and caring relationships with the entire families of our residents.
Hospice Care Goals: A Comforting, Loving, and Peaceful Environment
The hospice stage is one that can be serene because of the acceptance the residents and their family often achieve. There are not nearly so many medical tests or emergencies to fret about during hospice.
Our caregivers focus on providing a comforting and less stressful environment, appropriate meals, private spaces, and consistent updates to the family on the resident’s progress. Once again, our small group of caretakers will be very familiar with each resident’s needs and can focus on easing the suffering of our residents and their families. Our comfortable Board and Care is staffed 24 hours a day by a caretaker who works closely with the Hospice provider to achieve the common goals of resident care.
As with palliative care, our goal during hospice care is to reduce pain, increase comfort, and provide emotional and spiritual support to our residents and their families. We will be in touch with families often and know that they may need a little bit of extra support and encouragement during hospice care.
Helping Manage Activities of Daily Living
Our mission is to provide an individualized, multi-level assisted living program that addresses the mind, body and spirit. We do this by offering safe, nurturing, individualized care in an environment that provides all the comforts of home, including an array of holistic programs and services designed to enhance the quality of life of the persons served, restore and improve functioning, heal old wounds, maintain relationships, and remain as independent as possible.
During both palliative and hospice care, our residents will need help with “activities of daily living” (or ADLs). Examples include:
- Food preparation
- Room cleaning and maintenance
- Bathing & dressing assistance
- Assistance using the bathroom and maintaining personal hygiene
- Transferring into and out of beds and chairs
- Medication management
